The revolutionary spirit of the 18th century lives on at Colonial Williamsburg — through bold ideas, groundbreaking preservation, hands-on education, and dynamic civic engagement. As we celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary and Colonial Williamsburg's 100th, we welcome America — and the world — to join us in 2026 in honoring the past, engaging the present, and inspiring the future.

Colonial Williamsburg is ready to meet these historic moments – our own centennial and our nation’s 250th anniversary – and we invite all of America and the world to join us.

— Clifford B. Fleet III, President and CEO

Colonial Williamsburg's Centennial

Celebrating a century of learning from past centuries

2026 marks the 100th anniversary of CW. This institution, envisioned by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1926, began as an idea to restore the 18th-century town of Williamsburg, creating a center for educating the public about our history. Today, it stands as the world’s largest U.S. history museum and a hub for education, preservation, and research.
