Foundation to honor public safety personnel
Colonial Williamsburg will honor all active, reserve or retired public safety personnel with complimentary admission and special programs Friday through Sunday, Sept. 13-15.
All public safety personnel—law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians (EMTs)—with valid ID, and their immediate families, are eligible for complimentary admission Sept. 13-15 and substantial lodging discounts for overnight stays in Colonial Williamsburg hotels throughout September.
“This is one small way of saying ‘thank you’ to all those serving in public safety fields and their families, and acknowledging the challenges they face daily on behalf of their fellow citizens,” said Colonial Williamsburg President and Chairman Colin G. Campbell.
Program highlights Saturday, Sept. 14 include use of the reproduction 18th-century fire engine, demonstration of military field medicine of the period and character portrayals of 18th-century officers of the law. The day concludes with a 5 p.m. parade of police, fire and emergency medical team units on Duke of Gloucester Street and a ceremony saluting public safety personnel on Market Square.
To take advantage of the complimentary admission, public safety personnel should bring their valid ID and their family members to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center for ticketing.
Reservations is using a dedicated toll-free telephone number—(800) 261-0203—to book discounted lodging for public safety workers throughout September.
