Sweater Weather Golf Package offers cool value at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
As the last of this summer’s heat rolls through the mid-Atlantic, it’s comforting for golfers to know they soon will have some cooler weather heading their way.
At Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club that means “Sweater Weather Season,” time for the historic resort’s annual Sweater Weather golf package. Available Dec. 1, 2008 through April 2, 2009, the Sweater Weather Golf Package includes 18 holes per day-of-stay at one of the two award-winning courses at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, as well as lodging in one of the hotels in Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection, with rates starting at $99 per person, per night (at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, based on double occupancy, plus tax and gratuity). The package is also offered with stays at the Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge, Colonial Houses-Historic Lodging, and Providence Hall Guest Houses; package rates vary by hotel and room type.
The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (www.colonialwilliamsburgresort.com/golf) offers a pair of gems: the Gold Course, originally designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones Sr. and renovated by his son Rees Jones (6,817 yards from the championship tees), and the Green Course, a Rees Jones layout (7,120-yards from the tips). GOLF Magazine, in its September 2008 issue, ranked the Gold Course No. 55 on its “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” for 2008-09 and the Gold and Green Courses were both included among the top ten courses in Virginia.
Other features of the Sweater Weather Golf Package include unlimited range balls, a 15 percent discount on golf apparel in the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s two pro shops (just in case a new sweater is in order) and unlimited play on Spotswood, the resort’s nine-hole course, also designed by Jones Sr. (Apparel discount cannot be combined with any other offer and applies only to in-house stock. The package has a one-night minimum stay requirement.)

Each purchase of Colonial Williamsburg products and services supports the Foundation’s preservation, research, and educational programs.
