CW's Golden Horseshoe recognized by Golf Odyssey and Zagat Survey

Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club continues to be recognized by those who know – golfers who play the course and enjoy the resort facilities – with recent accolades in Golf Odyssey and the Zagat® Survey.

The course has received a 2008-2009 “Platinum Places” award from “Golf Odyssey: The Insider’s Guide to Sophisticated Golf Travel” in the category of “Best Destinations for Family Activities.”
Golf Odyssey is a subscription newsletter dedicated to golf travel and does not accept advertising from golf courses, resorts, hotels or restaurants. Its reviewers travel anonymously and pay their own expenses when reviewing a property.

“We are pleased to be recognized as a ‘Platinum Place’ for the second year in a row by Golf Odyssey,” said Glen Byrnes, director of golf for the Golden Horseshoe. “We’re proud to be a golf resort that offers so many different experiences for families to enjoy together.”

The Golden Horseshoe’s ongoing effort to embrace families combines service with a welcoming atmosphere, and special attention paid to details such as junior tees on the Spotswood course, afternoon tee times, golf day camps and custom-designed clinics.

The Zagat “Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas 2009” survey also has honored the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course, naming it #4 on its list of the best resort golf courses in America. Zagat is the world’s leading provider of consumer-survey-based dining, travel and leisure information, with more than 350,000 voters participating worldwide. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Zagat Survey.
