Colonial Williamsburg Salutes Military Service on Veterans Day Weekend

Colonial Williamsburg honors the sacrifices and dedication of U.S. veterans, active duty military personnel, guard and reservists and their dependents during Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11.

On Veterans Day a military parade honoring America’s veterans will be held at 4:30 p.m. and will begin at the Capitol. All veterans of service in America’s armed forces are invited to participate in the parade. Groups will begin forming at 4:15 p.m. A ceremony will follow the parade at the Courthouse on Market Square. Veterans unable to walk the distance can join the parade near the Magazine.

As part of this tribute, Colonial Williamsburg offers special free admission passes to active duty military, guard and reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents from Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 11-14.

The “Honoring Service to America” pass provides admission to Colonial Williamsburg exhibition sites, the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and most day programs. It also includes free parking at the Visitor Center, access to the digitally restored classic film, “Williamsburg, The Story of a Patriot,” and complimentary use of Colonial Williamsburg shuttle buses.

These weekend-long admission passes are available only at Colonial Williamsburg on-site ticket sales locations, including the Visitor Center, the Lumber House Ticket Office in the Historic Area or Merchants Square Ticket Office. Appropriate military identification is required.

The service member need not be present. Free “Honoring Service to America” passes will be provided to immediate family members of currently deployed troops, with appropriate identification. Military veterans who separated before retirement can bring a copy of their honorable discharge paperwork, DD Form 214, as identification of service.

In addition to providing complimentary admission tickets to these honored guests, Colonial Williamsburg offers special rates to military personnel and their families at any of its on-site hotels. Discounts are $30 off at the Williamsburg Inn, a $20 off at the Williamsburg Lodge and a $10 off at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites.
