Elegance, color are hallmarks of new WILLIAMSBURG® line introduction by Global Views at High Point Market

Elegant, classic design mingles easily with vibrant color in the extensive new WILLIAMSBURG® line from Global Views introduced here today at the International Home Furnishings Market with more than 100 products inspired by timeless objects in the Colonial Williamsburg collection.

Renowned for innovative color themes and cutting edge design, Global Views shows its strength with two color groupings exhibiting robust design themes, characterized by a sophisticated and crisp approach to adapting designs from museum originals.
A black-and-white collection emphasizes elegance and classic form in dramatic silhouette. Mochaware urns, ebony and nickel plated trays, etched glass decanters and pagoda-style shelves evoke images of formal elegance. Simplicity of line and dramatic proportion and form are reflected in bull’s eye mirrors, a quill feather weathervane, sculptured architectural forms and garden gate-inspired wrought iron wall art.

The second collection, in green and mahogany, springs to life in more organic style, color and emphasized detail. Hand painted florals on porcelain feature clear nature-inspired green in contrast with vivid yellow-green, blossoming in the fresh colors of a spring garden – a collection focusing on the tactile and the silhouette. Strong relief work is evident in canisters, leaf plates and “blind Earl” serving ware – inspired by the Earl of Coventry whose loss of eyesight led him to order dinnerware in high relief that enabled him to “see” through his fingertips the beautiful imagery of leaves, flowers and rose buds. A marriage of whimsy and traditional formality is evident in mahogany trays, elegant glassware and Staffordshire animal forms.

“Williamsburg has offered Global Views a treasure-trove of exquisite originals to work with,” said David Gebhart, president of Global Views. “Our excitement over updating classic pieces has enabled us to create ‘one-of-a-kind’ offerings, each distinctively designed and functional for today, yet timelessly attached to the wonderful history of Williamsburg.”

“What an exceptional treat to work with the highly talented Global Views team and witness their unwavering attention to detail, aesthetic excellence and total commitment to this new and wonderful Global Views WILLIAMSBURG Collection,” said Gail Burger, Colonial Williamsburg director of licensing for textiles and decorative accessories.

A new WILLIAMSBURG licensee, Global Views shares with Colonial Williamsburg a mutual respect for, and emphasis on, quality materials and excellence in form and design. Begun in 1996 to fulfill an entrepreneurial vision, Dallas-based Global Views blends elegance with the exotic in decorative accessories that appeal to discriminating devotees of beautiful products in hand-wrought metal, carved wood, hand-blown glass, molded porcelain, silverleaf and nickel plated brass.
