Colonial Williamsburg 4th of July Sizzles and Sparkles

Food and fun are as much a part of the celebration of American independence as family and fireworks. Colonial Williamsburg plans a day full of activities from the reading of the Declaration of Independence at noon at the colonial Capitol to a concert by the Virginia Symphony on Palace Green with a traditional fireworks finale. A pre-paid dinner at Williamsburg Lodge includes seating for Virginia Symphony on Palace Green, and for the first time, preferred seating in chairs for the symphony may be purchased separately.

  • Buffet dinner, music and games at the Williamsburg Lodge
  • 4 p.m. games and activities for kids on the Virginia Lawn
  • Buffet served continuously from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Virginia Room, includes barbecued chicken, grilled beef, vegetables gratin, sweet potatoes, corn muffins, cole slaw, baked potato salad, tomato cucumber salad, peach trifle and cupcakes
  • Yankee Doodle macaroni and young patriot chicken fingers for children
  • Cash bar selections of Virginia wines and Williamsburg AleWerks beer on tap
  • Music by L’il Ronnie and the Grand Dukes
  • 7:20 Fifes and Drums lead guests to Palace Green to symphony seating
  • Virginia Symphony led by Jo Ann Falletta – 8 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Fireworks – 9:20 p.m.
  • Colonial Williamsburg taverns serving from regular menus. Reservations required.
  • Beer sales on lawn in enclosed area at the foot of Palace Green beside Greenhow Lumber

    Price for the prepaid dinner in the Virginia Room of the Williamsburg Lodge, including tax and gratuity, is $85 per adult and $55 for children under 12 and includes seating for the Virginia Symphony Orchestra under the stars on Palace Green. Reservations can be made by calling (757) 229-2141 or 1-800-447-8679. Individual tickets for preferred seating in chairs for the Virginia Symphony are available for $45 and do not include dinner. Guests may bring their own blankets and lawn chairs for enjoying the symphony and fireworks adjacent to the restricted seating area. Schedule of programs available online at
