Wine Spectator Recognizes Colonial Williamsburg Wine Lists
Wine Spectator has named the Williamsburg Inn’s Regency Room and the Williamsburg Lodge’s Traditions restaurant Award of Excellence recipients in the August 31 issue of the magazine.
The award recognizes dining establishments with wine lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Typically, these lists offer at least 100 selections. Only 72 restaurants in Virginia received recognition from Wine Spectator.
The Regency Room wine list includes 385 selections from Europe and the finest producers in America, including its own Williamsburg Inn label Merlot, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon produced and bottled in California’s Napa Valley. The Regency Room offers moderately priced wines as well as several select wines and currently has an inventory of more than 5,700 bottles.
Traditions offers 117 moderately priced wines, including many selections from Virginia’s growing wine industry. Both the Regency Room and Traditions offer wines by the glass and by the bottle.
Sommelier Philippe Brainos oversees the Regency Room wine program, and Traditions restaurant manager Stacy Wingate manages the wine program at the Lodge.
