ShinDIG at Jamestown Benefits Jamestown Rediscovery Project

Guests enjoy an evening of bluegrass music, delicious barbecue and beautiful views of the James River Thursday, Sept. 19 on Jamestown Island at the second annual ShinDIG at Jamestown. The event benefits the Jamestown Rediscovery Project at Historic Jamestowne.

The Who Ever Shows Up Band performs at the Dale House Café on Jamestown Island. One of the featured musicians in the Williamsburg-based band includes archaeology director Bill Kelso on banjo. Other members of the band are Doug Burgoyne, guitar; Jack Cowardin, fiddle; Rob Foos, dobro; Bobby Hornsby, bass; Rennie Howard, banjo; Ellen Kelso, bass; and Steve Robertson, guitar.

The barbecue dinner is provided by Carrot Tree Kitchens. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Seating will be provided. No coolers will be allowed. The event will be held rain or shine. Gates at Historic Jamestowne open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 6:30 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the archaeological research, educational programs and operations of the Jamestown Rediscovery Project at Historic Jamestowne.

ShinDIG is sponsored by Williamsburg Event Rentals, Realtor Susie Beck of William E. Wood & Associates, Damuth Trane, The Williamsburg Winery, ASI Security, Berret's Seafood Restaurant and Taphouse Grill, and Printwell, Inc.

Tickets are $29 per person and include the barbecue dinner. Tickets must be purchased in advance online at www.historicjamestowne.org. An e-mail confirmation will be sent after the ticket purchase is made. Tickets will not be mailed to participants. There will be no refunds unless the event is cancelled by Preservation Virginia.
