Williamsburg® Products Signs Licensing Agreement with Nichols and Stone

The WILLIAMSBURG Products Program and Nichols and Stone have signed a licensing agreement to cooperatively design, market and distribute a casual, solid wood furniture collection for the WILLIAMSBURG Pure Simple Today brand. The initial introduction, which will debut at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., in October 2003, will include furniture for the bedroom, dining room and occasional pieces. An invitation-only event for the media will be held to introduce the collection at the October market. A complimentary upholstery program is planned for introduction in High Point the following spring.

“Nichols and Stone is the ideal partner to execute the WILLIAMSBURG Pure Simple Today furniture collection,” said Kris Fischer, director of licensing for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. “They have a long-standing tradition of high-quality, handcrafted manufacturing, as well as tremendous relationships with furniture retailers throughout the country.”

Historically, the WILLIAMSBURG brand has addressed the more formal rooms of the home with licensed collections of exquisite 18th-century reproduction furnishings. The WILLIAMSBURG Pure Simple Today Collection by Nichols and Stone will offer consumers casual, traditionally inspired pieces for the rooms of the home where family activities happen--from the sitting room to the kitchen. According to Fischer, “There is broad inspiration for less formal looks directly interpreted from handcrafted 18th-century furniture. The WILLIAMSBURG Pure Simple Today collection will reflect this inspiration in well proportioned, well made furniture that offers excellent quality and a sense of style for today’s consumer.”

As the oldest furniture manufacturer still in operation in America, Nichols and Stone has built its success on a heritage of fine furniture making and craftsmanship that spans eight generations. The company’s current collections include American Casual, traditional, and American and European country designs, which combine solid wood construction, and unique stain and paint finishes to create unmistakable Nichols and Stone quality and style.

The WILLIAMSBURG Products Program was established in 1936 to provide meticulous reproductions of the antique furnishings and accessories in the collections of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Today, WILLIAMSBURG licensed products are produced and distributed nationwide by over 50 brand name manufacturers in a broad range of home furnishings product categories. Initially launched in 1999, the WILLIAMSBURG Pure Simple Today collection includes furniture, decorative accessories, textiles and home accents with a casual, yet sophisticated take on traditional design.
