Colonial Williamsburg the South's "Best Historic Site" According to Southern Living Readers

One of the great things friends do for friends is share their vacation tips—the best places to dine, play, visit and stay, according to Southern Living magazine. For the last seven years Southern Living has asked its readers to share their favorites, then the magazine totals the results and publishes the top choices. For the seventh consecutive year, Southern Living readers have voted Colonial Williamsburg as the South’s “Best Historic Site.” “Tops in this category since 1995, Colonial Williamsburg is this year’s favorite two to one,” says Southern Living. The readers cast their votes as part of the magazine’s seventh annual Reader’s Choice Awards covering 2002. The awards were announced in the Spring 2003 Special Issue, Southern Living Favorites.

Southern Living readers were asked to name their favorites in 23 categories that included beaches, cruise destinations, dream getaways, family vacation destinations, hotels, museums and restaurants. The top three were listed in each category. The second and third favorite historic sites are: Charleston, S.C., and Washington, D.C.

Published monthly, Southern Living has a national circulation of nearly 2.5 million readers per issue.
