Laura J. Loda named Vice President of Human Resources for CW
Laura J. Loda has been named vice president of human resources for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. She will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive human resources strategy that incorporates programs in staff recruitment, compensation, training and performance management. Loda will report to the foundation’s senior vice president for finance and administration, Robert B. Taylor.
Previously senior vice president of operations for ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa, Calif., Loda joined ARV in 1998 as senior vice president of human resources. From 1996 to 1998, she was the director of human resources for Taco Bell in Irvine, Calif., and from 1993 to 1996 she was the director of compensation for Gap Inc. in San Francisco. From 1981 to 1993, Loda held various management positions with Marriott Corporation in Washington, D.C., including director of human resources, director of compensation and retention programs, manager of labor relations, and manager of wage administration. Prior to Marriott, she worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as an assistant to Congressman Tom Tauke.
“This is an enormously important appointment for Colonial Williamsburg and one that is especially welcome given our emphasis on attracting and retaining a quality workforce in an increasingly competitive environment,” said Taylor. “Laura’s extensive experience and accomplishments in all aspects of human resources will serve the foundation well. I am delighted to be sharing this news and look forward to working with her.”
“I am thrilled by this opportunity,” said Loda. “The chance to work with the very special people of Colonial Williamsburg is truly an honor.”
A native of Bethesda, Md., Loda holds a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. She and her husband Richard will relocate to the Williamsburg area in May, when she joins the foundation in her new position.
