Learn the tips and tricks of CW's all-natural holiday decorations

Learn the secrets behind Colonial Williamsburg’s world-renowned holiday decorations during the program on decorating private homes in the Historic Area 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 6 at the Bruton Heights School Lane Auditorium.

Each year, residents of Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area decorate their homes for the holidays and are judged on their efforts. Awards are given in two categories: professional--entries that were created by a landscape or florist professional--and amateur--entries fashioned by the residents themselves. The winners each receive $200. Judges base their decisions on:

  • Design;
  • Originality;
  • Creative use of materials; and
  • Appropriateness for type and size of building.

    Six award winners will be announced.

    Colonial Williamsburg home stylist Cindy Cragg, who is featured in the recently released DVD, “WILLIAMSBURG® Christmas Style,” will demonstrate new decorating ideas for this holiday season.

    A Colonial Williamsburg admission ticket, Good neighbor pass or employee/volunteer ID is required to attend this program.
