WILLIAMSBURG® accessorizes High Point with new home decor

With new licensing partners and a new selection of home products, WILLIAMSBURG continues to offer home-decorating enthusiasts solutions and ideas for putting together a beautifully accessorized home. Products from new licensees Sedgefield by Adams and SPI–Home will debut at the High Point Furniture Market, which runs from March 26–April 1, 2007. In addition, products by Michaelian Home, Capel and Global Views will be shown for the first time at High Point. The products allow consumers to mix and match styles, colors and themes, and even incorporate treasured heirlooms, to reflect the eclectic look of today’s new traditional.

New licensee Sedgefield by Adams will introduce iconic WILLIAMSBURG brass lamps and giftware previously produced by Virginia Metalcrafters, which closed its doors in 2006. While these favorites will keep their familiar form, Sedgefield has used its expertise to add new shades and wood bases to a selection of pieces for a refreshed look. Some of the introductions are part of the WILLIAMSBURG Reserve Collection, a premium line of authentic reproductions and adaptations of Colonial Williamsburg antiques. New designs by Sedgefield will be added to the collection and launched at the Fall 2007 High Point Furniture and January 2008 Atlanta Gift markets.

SPI–Home, also a new WILLIAMSBURG licensee, will introduce a selection of garden products in aluminum, iron and other metals, formerly produced by Virginia Metalcrafters. The 18th-century American garden showed strong influences from architectural-pattern and garden-design books, featuring classic columns, urns, stands, basins and shells. A number of these illustrations are found in Colonial Williamsburg’s rare books collection and inspired this line of distinctive garden accents. The line will expand at the Atlanta Gift Market in July 2007 and January 2008 with additional introductions and new products spanning metal doormats to garden animals to hose guards.

Michaelian Home will introduce new needlepoint pillows under the WILLIAMSBURG Reserve brand. Oversized floral pillows were adapted from exquisite antique botanical illustrations from the Curtis Botanical Magazine in the Colonial Williamsburg rare books collection. Available in seven floral options including Day Lily and Hibiscus, the designs exemplify the new flora and fauna that naturalists documented in the New World. Also debuting, the King and Queen of Spades pillows are based on a hand-painted deck of cards, circa 1765, in the collections of Colonial Williamsburg. Likewise, the new Rooster and Hen pillow is inspired by a painted textile in the collections. These beautiful needlepoint pillows are 100% wool face.

Three new colors will be added to the WILLIAMSBURG Hartwell rug collection by Capel —Mint, Green/Brown and Antique. Handcrafted in soft, high-low chenille pile, they are an exclusive interpretation of 18th-century cottage rugs. These braided rugs complement any décor and coordinate wonderfully with the WILLIAMSBURG Age of Exploration and Natural Elegance fabric collections by Waverly®.

Ornamental wall tiles and figurines in a multitude of shapes were extremely popular throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and are making a comeback today. Tin-glazed plaques and figures from Colonial Williamsburg’s earthenware collections inspired the new WILLIAMSBURG dog and cat tile plaques from Global Views. The set pairs beautifully with a variety of decorative accents including the new WILLIAMSBURG Palace Bud Vases, a bold grouping based on glassware listed in a 1768 inventory of the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg. Other introductions include Tall and Fat Ceramic Temple Jars, Hand-Painted Porcelain Swan Plates, Blue and White Resist Pillow, Mirrored Glass Candleholders and Andiron Candleholder.
