Williamsburg Farmers' Market expands to include Tuesday markets

Now shoppers to the Williamsburg Farmers Market on Saturday can enjoy the same fresh produce, baked goods and other specialty items during the week. The market is expanding its hours of operation to 3-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Aug. 28 in Merchants Square.

“Producers keep their trucks on site at this laid-back market,” said market manager Libbey Oliver. “Local residents find Tuesday shopping a good opportunity to pick up cut flowers or prepared foods and to add items to get them through the week until the Saturday market. The Tuesday afternoon markets ensure customers of the opportunity to always have fresh picked vegetables and food that has been just baked.”

New vendors who offer their products at the Tuesday markets include:

  • Deez Cheese, cheese wafers;
  • Everona Dairy, sheep cheese;
  • Gardeners’ Workshop, cut flowers;
  • Manakintowne Specialty Growers, gourmet vegetables and micro greens; and
  • The Mise in Place, prepared foods.

    Returning vendors with products at Tuesday markets include:

  • Amy’s Garden, organic produce, heirloom varieties and cut flowers;
  • Aromas Coffeehouse, Bakeshop & Restaurant, beverages and baked goods;
  • Bees ‘N Blossoms, honey and honey products;
  • Buster’s Seafood, fresh fish and crabs from the
  • Rappahannock River;
  • College Run Farms of Surry County;
  • Blenheim Organic Growers, organic produce;
  • Jamestown Pie Company, fruit and nut pies as well as savory potpies;
  • Kelrae Farm, fresh vegetables;
  • Lowe’s Arlington Farms, vegetables and cut flowers;
  • Nature’s Gifts, specialty plants;
  • A Thyme to Plant Herb Farm, potted herb plants;
  • Vick Farms Peanuts, tins and gift baskets of peanuts;
  • W.H. Forrest Seafood, seafood; and
  • Zamora Produce, seasonal vegetables crops.

    The Founding Sponsors of the Williamsburg Farmers Market are The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Merchants Square Association and the City of Williamsburg. Additional sponsors for 2007 are: the Riverside Hospital System with marketing support; Towne Bank, sponsors of the Chef’s Tent; and Ukrop’s Super Markets, which supports musical entertainment.

    The Williamsburg Farmers Market was established for growers and producers of Eastern Virginia to sell fresh seasonal food and farm products directly to the residents and guests in the Greater Williamsburg area.
