CW announces new national sales director

Christopher Pipes has joined the Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg as director, national sales. Pipes is responsible for the Midwest market with a focus on the Chicago area. He has 30 years of experience in hospitality and sales, including the Greenbrier, the Walt Disney Company and The Broadmoor.

“The Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg is fortunate to have Chris join our sales team. His breadth of experience and devotion to the hospitality business will serve Colonial Williamsburg and our clients well,” said Tom Spong, director of sales. “I am thrilled with the opportunity to represent the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation which has an established reputation in the meetings industry,” said Pipes.

“The beautiful new conference center, the enhancements at the Williamsburg Lodge and addition of The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg complete the overall resort offering. I’m very proud to be representing an organization that’s committed to preserving the story of how our nation was formed.”

Pipes is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association, American Society of Association Executives and the National Association of Realtors. Pipes and his wife, Liz, plan to relocate to Williamsburg from their current home in Amelia Isle, Fla. Their son, Matthew, plans to attend the New York Film Academy in the fall.

The Resort Collection of Colonial Williamsburg, which includes the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, provides guests a choice of more than 1,000 guest rooms among five distinctive hotel properties surrounding Colonial Williamsburg’s renowned Historic Area, and amenities such as a newly opened 20,000-suqare-foot spa. The Resort Collection is owned by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the private, not-for-profit educational institution that preserves and operates the restored 18th-century Revolutionary capital of Virginia. Purchase of Colonial Williamsburg resort services and products supports the Foundation’s preservation, research, and educational programs.
