Joseph J. O’Callahan oversees CWC-HG lodging operations

Joseph J. O’Callahan has been named director-lodging guest services and organizational development for the Colonial Williamsburg Company-Hospitality Group (CWC-HG). O’Callahan is responsible for the direction and oversight of all CWC-HG lodging operations at the Williamsburg Inn, Colonial Houses historic lodging, Williamsburg Lodge, Woodlands Hotel & Suites, and Governor’s Inn.

O’Callahan comes to Colonial Williamsburg from the Walt Disney World Co. hotels where he was manager of guest services operations for Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. He joined Disney in 1997 as a senior organization development leader for the company’s Resorts Leadership Team, focusing on building greater and more consistent guest service across all Disney resorts.

Prior to joining Disney, O’Callahan spent 11 years with Lockheed-Martin Corp. in Orlando, Fla., in process innovation, organization development and operations leadership.

“O’Callahan’s professional and educational background makes him uniquely qualified to take on this important new strategic leadership role in our organization,” said John Hallowell, president-hospitality, Colonial Williamsburg Company. “He brings an exceptional talent in team development and quality initiatives along with an excellent organizational approach to hotel operations. His passionate interest in history and literature, especially of the 18th century, finds an ideal home here.”

“I am proud and excited to be a part of the Colonial Williamsburg family, and I am humbled at the opportunity to build upon the great work that has been done by so many since Dr. Goodwin’s dream was realized,” said O’Callahan.

O’Callahan holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Orleans and a master’s degree in human resources from Rollins College, in Winter Park, Fla.

A native of New Orleans, O’Callahan and his wife, Joyce, have five children—three adult sons and two younger children, Megan, 14, and Bryan, 16.
