Summer Breeze concert series returns to Merchants Square

Once again the popular—and free—Summer Breeze concert series is returning to Merchants Square. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the sounds of live musical entertainment from rock and roll, beach and bluegrass to jazz, swing and salsa on Thursday evenings in July, followed by performances of jazz, pop and a selection of show tunes on Wednesday evenings in August. Don’t miss this annual rite of summer!

The July schedule of performances in Merchants Square includes:


  • Thursday, July 11, 6:30-7:45 p.m., The New Dominion (bluegrass);


  • Thursday, July 18, 6:30-7:45 p.m., H. M. Johnson (New Orleans jazz and blues); and


  • Thursday, July 25, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Robert Jospe (swing and salsa).


  • The Heritage of America Series includes:


  • Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Langley Air Force Band with vocalist Karen Mason from Broadway’s “Mamma Mia”;


  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Langley Air Force Band’s “The Blue Aces”;


  • Wednesday, Aug. 21, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Langley Air Force Band with Ron Hawking, a tribute to Frank Sinatra; and


  • Wednesday, Aug. 28, 6:30-7:45 p.m., Langley Air Force Band with jazz clarinetist Eddie Daniels.
