Discover the way to your Valentine's heart at the Williamsburg Farmers Market

The Williamsburg Farmers Market has announced its slate of winter markets – Feb. 9, March 8 and April 12 -- from 8:30 a.m.-noon in Merchants Square.

At the first market you’ll be sure to delight your Valentine with selections of baked goods, chocolates, cut willows, cheese, produce and meats from local producers.

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Quarterpath Recreation Center, the market will hold the 2008 annual reception and program for its customers. This will be an opportunity to meet the producers and to enjoy presentations by several as they relate highlights of their past year. The meeting is open to the public.

The regular market schedule begins Saturday, May 3 and continues every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through Oct. 25. For more information, contact market manager Libbey Oliver at (757) 259-3768 or visit the Web site at

The Williamsburg Farmers Market was established for growers and producers of Eastern Virginia to sell fresh seasonal food and farm products directly to the residents and guests in the Greater Williamsburg area.

Parking is available at the Prince George Street garage for $1 an hour. The Francis Street parking lot will continue to be free on Saturdays until noon. All other lots are posted as one-hour or two-hour parking.

The founding sponsors of the Williamsburg Farmers Market are The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Merchants Square Association and the City of Williamsburg. Additional sponsors for 2007 are: the Riverside Hospital System with marketing support; Towne Bank, sponsors of the Chef’s Tent; and Ukrop’s Super Markets, which supports musical entertainment.
