The Virginia Society of Association Executives presented its 2007 Associate Member Award of Excellence to Tom Spong, director of sales for Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection. The award recognizes the suppliers who distinguished themselves through leadership and professionalism.
Spong is responsible for directing the conference and adult tour sales staff to increase group sales in lodging, food and beverage, golf, spa and other Colonial Williamsburg products and services. Spong earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and has worked for Colonial Williamsburg for more than 16 years.
“Tom is a true professional who has earned the confidence of our guests and our staff through his attention to detail and dedication to excellence,” said Perry Goodbar, vice president, hospitality sales, services and business development for Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection. “He certainly deserves the recognition the Virginia Society of Association Executives has awarded him.”
Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection, which includes the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, provides guests a choice of more than 1,000 guest rooms among five distinctive hotel properties surrounding Colonial Williamsburg’s renowned Historic Area. The Resort Collection is owned by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the private, not-for-profit educational institution that preserves and operates the restored 18th-century Revolutionary capital of Virginia.
