CW's Golden Horshoe unveils summer junior golf programs
Reaffirming its commitment to growing the game of golf, the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club offers junior golf programs for children of all ages, starting in late June through early August. The Golden Horseshoe is part of Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection of five hotel properties located adjacent to Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area.
Available to guests of the resort, children of members or local residents (as specified) the junior golf experiences include:
Junior golf rates are offered throughout the year for tee times not included in any of the aforementioned special offers. U.S. Kids Golf rental clubs are available. For further information, enrollment or pricing for any of these programs, call the golf reservations office at (757) 220-7696.
The Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (www.goldenhorseshoegolf.com) offers a pair of 18-hole gems: the Gold Course, originally designed by the famed Robert Trent Jones Sr. and renovated by his son Rees Jones (6,817 yards from the championship tees), and the Green Course, a Rees Jones layout (7,120-yards from the tips). GOLF Magazine, in its September 2006 issue, ranked the Gold Course No. 48 on its “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” for 2006-07.
The popular, executive-length Spotswood Course, named for colonial Governor Alexander Spotswood, offers a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. Spotswood provides a couple of hours of afternoon delight with nine beautiful and challenging holes for junior golfers, beginners and experienced golfers alike. Called the “best short nine-hole course in the country” by GOLF Magazine, the par-31 Spotswood Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and measures 1,865 yards with one 480-yard par 5, par 4s of 285 and 305 yards, and six par-3 holes that vary from 90 to 215 yards.
Colonial Williamsburg’s Resort Collection, which includes the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, provides guests a choice of more than 1,000 guest rooms among five distinctive hotel properties surrounding Colonial Williamsburg’s renowned Historic Area. The Resort Collection is owned by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the private, not-for-profit educational institution that preserves and operates the restored 18th-century Revolutionary capital of Virginia. Purchase of Colonial Williamsburg resort services and products supports the Foundation’s preservation, research, and educational programs.
