Teacher Materials

A Day in the Life is designed to complement elementary and middle school history curriculums. The series introduces students to colonial American history, explores 18th-century daily life in Great Britain's North American colonies, and examines the roles of individuals in colonial communities. A Day in the Life immerses students in the colonial period and explores the "Becoming Americans" story of how diverse people who settled in the colonies evolved into a society that valued liberty, equality, and the responsibilities of citizenship.

The teacher guide in PDF format includes historical background information, a time line and glossary, primary sources, detailed classroom lesson plans, and technology extensions. The A Day in the Life series and teacher guide support state curriculum standards.
