Study Visit Programs

Visitors mingling with costumed interpretersThe Department of Group Interpretation at Colonial Williamsburg provides guided interpretation for a wide variety of groups who visit Colonial Williamsburg. We provide Historical Interpreters who teach public, private and home schooled students, members of civic and religious organizations such as Scouting and church groups as well as more mature students of history who attend Colonial Williamsburg's Elderhostel program. These official Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Historical Interpreters are employees who present exciting Overview and Discovery Tour Study Visit programs in Colonial Williamsburg's restored Historic Area. Blending goals with a methodology of learning through active participation, interpreters use historic buildings, primary sources and eighteenth-century objects to instill students of all ages to appreciate America's beginnings and provoke them to make their own conclusions about what it means to be an American in the twenty-first century.
