Step back in time and walk in the footsteps of our nation’s founders! Travel to the 18th-century capital of Virginia and experience Colonial Williamsburg’s Teacher Professional Development programs in the Revolutionary City.

These intensive six-day onsite programs immerse participants in American history. Each program is tailored to meet common core and state content standards in United States history and government. Programs are targeted for elementary, middle and high school teachers.

Enlightenment Forum

teachers and interpreterJoin the Colonial Williamsburg Enlightenment Forum and kindle the educational spirit within. Each two-day workshop will give participants a chance to delve deeply into the complexities of the past through topics ranging from the colonial economy to the founding principles of our nation.

From Teapots to Tobacco: 18th-Century Global Trade

September 12-13, 2015 and March 19-20, 2016

Our current system of credit and subsequent debt is not just a 21st-century issue. Join us for From Teapots to Tobacco: 18th-Century Global Trade and explore how Virginia’s tobacco economy played a vital role in economics around the world in the 18th century. Get the inside story from historical characters on how the larger global economy affected their daily lives, and what the economic future might hold on the eve of the American Revolution.

The Constitution and American Protest

November 7-8, 2015

How does the United States Constitution attempt to balance changing democratic ideas, especially when citizens sometimes challenge those ideas? Join us for The Constitution and American Protest and discover the answers to those essential questions and determine where the Idea of America truly began. Engage one-on-one with people of the past, historians and primary sources and uncover what it truly means to be a citizen of the American Republic.
