Part of the Hennage Holiday Concert Series, the music of well-loved performers usher in the season’s spirit.
Christmas celebrations in Appalachia closed on January 6 with a “breaking up Christmas” celebration filled with songs, tunes, and dancing. Barry Trott and Brian Forsman bring this tradition back to life with various early and modern banjos and fiddles. These dance tunes and songs create a musical portrait of Virginia from the days of English country dances to the rise of country music in the Appalachian hills and hollows.
