Hands-On Archaeology at Custis Square

CW Admission Required

Free Event Ticket Required

Do you have a future archaeologist in the family? Spend an hour with Colonial Williamsburg's experts as we excavate at Custis Square, the former home of John Custis IV! This program offers kids and teens, ages 5 to 16, an opportunity to help archaeologists collect and identify artifacts and discuss how archaeology helps us to understand the past. Participants will spend 20 minutes screening for artifacts alongside archaeologists. For the remainder of each session, each group will discuss the archaeological process, artifacts found in the screen, and what they can tell us about the people who lived and worked at Custis Square from the 18th century right up to today.

Free reservation required. Space is limited for this program. To book your reservation, please visit a ticket office or call our Guest Services at (888) 965-7254. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Weather dependent.
