It is the night of Monday June 24, 1776 and Lord Dunmore’s property is about to be auctioned off tomorrow. Property that includes dozens of enslaved people he left behind, including Hannah. It is hours before this auction is set to take place and she is quite concerned about the implications of being sold away from the Governor’s Palace — the only place she has ever lived; a place she once lived with her parents and her older sister Kitty.
